- Do you work on older Cambridge terraces?
- Yes. Victorian and Edwardian terraces are some of the most rewarding work we do. They usually need softer, lime-based mortar rather than modern cement, carefully matched brick and repairs that don’t trap damp in the wall. We’ll tell you what your house was built with before we touch it.
- My house is in a conservation area. Can you still extend it?
- Often, yes, but Cambridge has a lot of conservation areas and the planners look closely at materials and design there. We work from your architect’s approved drawings and match brick, bond and mortar so the result sits comfortably with the street.
- Who handles planning for a Cambridge job?
- Homes inside the city are dealt with by Cambridge City Council, while most of the surrounding villages fall under South Cambridgeshire District Council. The two councils run a shared planning service, and we can point you in the right direction at the site visit.
