Bricklayers & garden walls in Cambourne

Bricklaying is the trade we’re named for. A wall laid by someone who knows what they’re doing, plumb and level with clean consistent joints and the right bond, is the sort of thing neighbours stop to ask about. We build garden and boundary walls, piers, steps and hard-landscaping brickwork across Cambourne and the surrounding villages.

Garden & boundary walls

Front garden walls, rear boundary walls, retaining walls and dwarf walls under railings or fencing. We build with the correct foundations, movement joints and copings so the wall stays true and doesn’t crack or lean a few winters in, which is the usual fate of walls built without proper footings.

Piers, steps & hard landscaping

Gate and entrance piers, brick steps, planters and the brick elements of a wider landscaping scheme. We can match the brick to your house or to an existing wall, and lay in the bond that suits the job (Flemish, English garden wall, stretcher) rather than whatever’s quickest.

The right bond, the right brick

Small brick jobs are where poor workmanship shows most, because the whole thing is at eye level. We take the time to set out properly, gauge the courses, and match mortar colour and joint profile so the finished wall looks considered, not thrown up.

Cost

What does a garden wall cost?

A garden or boundary wall is priced by length, height and the brick you choose, plus the foundation work underneath, so it’s best quoted for your specific wall. Retaining and taller walls are a bigger job than a low garden wall.

Send us a photo on WhatsApp with rough measurements and we can give you a ballpark quickly, then a fixed written quote after a visit.

Questions

Common questions

How is a garden wall priced?
It depends on height, brick and whether it’s retaining, but a standard garden wall is usually priced by the square metre of wall once we’ve seen the job. We’ll give you a clear figure in the written quote rather than a vague estimate.
Do I need planning permission for a garden wall?
Walls up to one metre high next to a road, or up to two metres elsewhere, are generally permitted development, but Cambourne’s estate design codes can be stricter, so we’ll flag anything worth checking before you commit.
Can you match the brick to my house?
Usually, yes. We’ll identify your brick and mortar and source the closest match so a new wall ties in with the house rather than standing out.
